What is the minimum number of farmers to form an FPO? ▼
A Farmer Producer Company under the Companies Act 2013 requires a minimum of 10 farmer members and 2 directors. For NABARD equity grant eligibility, a minimum of 300 members (500 in hilly areas) is preferred, but formation can begin with fewer.
Does my farm qualify for carbon credits? ▼
Most Indian farmland practising or willing to adopt reduced tillage, cover cropping, agroforestry, or composting is eligible. A minimum contiguous area of 100–200 hectares aggregated across FPO members is generally required for Verra VCS registration. We do a free eligibility assessment.

From application to first credit issuance typically takes 6–12 months, covering baseline surveys, project documentation, registry enrollment and third-party verification. After that, credits are issued and sold annually. Payments go directly into the FPO's bank account.
